Salem Art House, LLC (“Salem Art House,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of our clients, bidders, consignors, website visitors, and others who interact with us. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information in connection with our website, our auction services, property submissions, communications, and related services.
Depending on how you interact with Salem Art House, we may collect information such as name; mailing address; email; telephone; account and login information; billing and shipping information; auction registration information; bidding and purchase history; consignment and sale information; payment-related information; identity-verification information; communications with us; photographs and descriptions of property submitted for review; information concerning estates, collections, provenance, or ownership; newsletter preferences; website usage; device and browser information; IP address; and other information you voluntarily provide.
Payments may be processed by third-party payment processors or auction-platform providers. Salem Art House does not necessarily receive or store complete payment-card information when it is entered directly into a third-party system. Payment information is subject to the practices of the applicable provider.
We may use personal information to register bidders; administer auctions; process bids, purchases, and payments; coordinate pickup, packing, shipping, or delivery; evaluate property submitted for sale; administer consignments; research property; maintain provenance and transaction records; provide estate and collection services; respond to inquiries; send communications where permitted; prevent fraud; comply with legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations; resolve disputes; and protect the rights, property, and safety of Salem Art House, our clients, and others.
If you submit photographs, descriptions, provenance, ownership history, estate information, or other information about property, we may retain and use that information to evaluate the property and communicate with you. Submission does not create a consignment, appraisal, agency relationship, or obligation to accept the property.
We may maintain records concerning auction participation, bids, purchases, consignments, property history, provenance, payments, shipping, and related transactions. Some records may be retained for extended periods for legal, tax, accounting, provenance, fraud-prevention, or business-record requirements.

If you subscribe or otherwise authorize us to contact you, we may send information about upcoming auctions, consignments, events, estate and collection services, editorial content, and business announcements. You may unsubscribe from marketing email at any time. Transactional communications may still be sent when necessary.
We do not sell personal information as part of our ordinary business operations. We may share information with service providers and other parties when reasonably necessary — auction-platform providers, payment processors, hosting and email providers, shipping and logistics providers, accountants, attorneys, insurers, IT and security providers, and other contractors. We may also disclose information to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, investigate fraud, enforce agreements, or protect Salem Art House or others.

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and for legitimate business, tax, accounting, provenance, contractual, fraud-prevention, regulatory, and legal purposes. Different categories may be retained for different periods.
Salem Art House uses reasonable administrative, physical, and technical measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your passwords and account credentials.
