Salem Auction House is now Salem Art House

Estate Services

One estate. Many decisions.

There is often a lot more to settling an estate than deciding what to sell. Families, executors, and trustees may suddenly be responsible for artwork, antiques, household contents, collections, vehicles, personal belongings, and a home — all while dealing with unfamiliar decisions and deadlines. Salem Art House helps make the process more manageable.

A thoughtful approach

We start by learning about the estate.

We begin with the goals of the people responsible for it. The objective is not necessarily to place everything into a single sale — different objects may require different solutions.

Estate auctions & liquidation

For appropriate estates, we can organize and market property for auction — intake, organization, research, photography, cataloging, and auction administration. The specific services depend on the estate.

Fine art within an estate

Artwork is sometimes overlooked during a general liquidation. We take particular care with paintings, works on paper, photography, sculpture, and other art so significant pieces are considered individually.

When the home must be sold too

Contents and real estate, coordinated.

Many estates include both the contents of a home and the home itself. Thoughtful coordination — auction schedules, property removal, home preparation, and real-estate marketing — can make an estate transition considerably easier. When real estate is involved, we can coordinate the personal-property process with the licensed professional handling the sale.

For executors, trustees & advisors

You don’t need an inventory to begin.

If you are responsible for an estate and are uncertain where to begin, a conversation is often the best first step.
